About Us
We are a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) that undertakes projects with a direct impact on the environment, and on the quality of the life of the rural masses.  We focus on projects that promote skill acquisition,to empower local communties and alleviate their poverty, and at the same time protect the environment for sustainable development. The rural masses and the urban poor are the main actors in our environmental projects and we involve them from initial stage of designing,implementation and monitoring anti poverty strategies and programmes.

Our projects have gained national and international recognition. In addition, the founder of the N.G.O (Greenshield of Nations) and the initiator of this programme Dr Kabir Abdulkadir was nominated for a Sasakawa International Environment Award 2003 by the presidency.

All of our projects aim to achieve the following key benefits:
1. Provide local communities with new sources of skills acquisition and employment
2. Preserve and improve the local environmnet by providing alternative fuel sources for local communities
3. Reduce the local impact of disertification through afforestation and reforestation projects
4. Make a contribution towards the global reduction of carbon emissions

Integrated rural energy supply and environmental protection for sustainable development of the rural areas and an articulated programmes for coordinated and effective environmental education on afforestation, conservation, and alternative sources of energy to fuelwood.


Our sponsors
Northern Nigeria occupies a land mass of 600,000 square kilometers which is equivalent to 60,000,000 hectares of land. The N.G.O is currently undertaking the plantation of jatropha in eleven front lines states of Northern Nigeria. These states are Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Gombe.These are states bordering the sahara desert. The traditional rulers have been sensitized and they work with us to promote public awareness for the success of our projects. Our projects are supported by the federal Government (through ministries of Environment, Agriculture, Finance, Nigerian National petroleum Corporation {N.N.P.C}, Ecological Funds), states and Local Governments, donor countries and organizations, and also through carbon finance under the Clean Development Mechanism (C.D.M) of the Kyoto Protocol.
